BPOM Food Warehouse Audit
According to the relevant regulations of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM), completing the food warehouse audit (SMKPO) is one of the prerequisites that food importers must meet before registering an account and products in the BPOM system. Obtaining SMKPO certification indicates that the importer’s storage facility meets the required standards and is suitable for use as a product storage location.
Basic Informations

1.      According to the relevant regulations of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM), completing the food warehouse audit (SMKPO) is one of the prerequisites that food importers must meet before registering an account and products in the BPOM system. Obtaining SMKPO certification indicates that the importer’s storage facility meets the required standards and is suitable for use as a product storage location.

2.      Main requirements for conducting a food warehouse audit:
a.      The company must be registered with a business classification code (KBLI) that corresponds to the field of “processed food wholesale trade” (the specific KBLI code depends on the type of product to be imported);
b.      The company must own a warehouse, and the warehouse address must be registered in the Business Identification Number (NIB) certificate.

3.      The storage facility for processed foods must meet the following standards:
a.      The warehouse must be located on commercial land; shop-house warehouses (Ruko) or standalone warehouses are acceptable, while residential addresses are prohibited;
b.      Virtual office addresses are not allowed;
c.      The warehouse must have complete and valid ownership documents;
d.      A valid lease agreement must be provided, with a minimum lease term of 2 years;
e.      The warehouse must have a minimum area of 60 square meters, with the exact size to be chosen based on the anticipated import volume;
f.       The warehouse must be clean, well-lit, and free from contamination risks (e.g., no holes, leaks, etc.);
g.      It must be equipped with storage facilities as required by BPOM (such as shelves, temperature and humidity meters, fire extinguishers, etc.).

4.      Before submitting a food warehouse audit application, an SMKPO account must first be activated through the BPOM OSS RBA system.

5.      Within six months of obtaining the SMKPO certification, the company must establish an SMKPO team and complete an internal warehouse audit.

6.      The SMKPO certificate is valid for 5 years and can be renewed
