SNI Type 5 Certification
The Indonesian National Standard (SNI) is the only applicable national standard developed and supervised by the Indonesian National Standardization Bureau (BSN), similar to China's 3C certification. SNI certification is for local and imported products in Indonesia, aiming to ensure product quality and safety.
Basic Informations

1.      The Indonesian National Standard (SNI) is the only applicable national standard developed and supervised by the Indonesian National Standardization Bureau (BSN), similar to China’s 3C certification. SNI certification is for local and imported products in Indonesia, aiming to ensure product quality and safety.

2.      There are two types of SNI product certification: compulsory certification and voluntary certification. For compulsory certified products, if the product is not certified, it is prohibited to circulate or trade in Indonesia.

3.      Since September 2024, the Indonesian Ministry of Industry has successively issued new regulations for the compulsory SNI certified products under its supervision, including new certification requirements and processes for trademarks, warehouses and official representatives.

4.      SNI certification will be applied for by: 1) local manufacturers in Indonesia; 2) overseas manufacturers (through official representatives in Indonesia).

5.      Before applying for SNI certification, overseas manufacturers must meet the following main conditions:
a.      Engage in the production and manufacturing of related products (provided by business license and ISO 9001 certificate)
b.      Have a trademark certificate registered in Indonesia (trademark category and product type are consistent)
c.      Have sufficient related product production equipment and measuring instruments
d.      Have an official representative in Indonesia

6.      The official representative must meet the following main conditions:
a.      Appointed by the overseas manufacturer as its only official representative in Indonesia (provided by the notarized appointment letter of the official representative)
b.      Obtain the trademark use authorization from the overseas manufacturer (provided by the trademark authorization agreement registration certificate)
c.      Own a warehouse in the same region/city as the official representative (provided by warehouse ownership or lease contract, etc.)
d.      Able to serve as an importer for the overseas manufacturer
e.      Have a SIINas account

7.      About official representatives:
a.      An official representative can only represent one overseas manufacturer.
b.      If the overseas manufacturer changes the official representative before the expiration of the SNI certification certificate, its certification certificate will be invalid.
c.      If the official representative does not serve as the importer, the importer can be designated.

8.      There are two key links in the process of SNI Type 5 certification: 1) factory inspection; 2) sample testing.

9.      The main purpose of the factory inspection is to ensure that all production processes comply with the corresponding SNI standards and that its quality management system complies with ISO 9001:2015 or equivalent standards.

10.    During the factory inspection, the auditor will also take samples. The sampled samples must be sent to the Indonesian laboratory for sample testing.

11.    After the SNI certification is completed, the delivery documents obtained are:
a.      SNI certificate: issued by the certification body LSPro, for manufacturers who have met the SNI standards.
b.      SPPT SNI: SNI logo use approval letter issued by the Ministry of Industry, for local Indonesian manufacturers/official representatives who have met the SNI conditions.

12.    The SNI certificate is valid for 5 years and must be reviewed annually. The SPPT SNI is valid for 1 year and can be renewed for one year after the annual review.
