1.      Before the company imports products into Indonesia, it must pay attention to the customs code of the product, because some products require special permits, one of which is the PI import approval letter.

2.      If the imported product is a hazardous material (the company must have a PI B2 hazardous material import approval letter), if the product is a second-hand machine (the company must have a PI BMTB second-hand machine import approval letter), if the product is a tire (the company must have a tire PI import approval letter), if the company does not have an approval letter, the product cannot be shipped from the customs area (red status icon) or returned to the place of origin.

3.      B2 Hazardous materials are substances, chemicals and biological substances, whether in single or mixed form, which may directly or indirectly harm the environment and are toxic, carcinogenic, teratogenic, mutagenic, corrosive and irritating.

4.      PI BMTB is divided into 3 types (according to the customs code):

– Type A: generally industrial/engineering machinery
– Type B: air transport vehicles
-Type C: maritime transport vehicles

5.      Before applying for PI B2, the company must have:
a. Business registration certificate NIB as API-P
b. IP B2 issued by the Ministry of Trade as a manufacturer importer

6.      Before applying for the import approval letter, the import quota cannot be determined and will be determined by the Ministry of Trade.

7.      Some tires need to obtain SNI certification before applying for PI import approval letter (according to the customs code).

8.      In order to import second-hand machinery of type A, the maximum service life of the machine is 20 years (calculated from the time the machine is produced).

9.      According to regulations, second-hand machinery can only be used for its own business production purposes and cannot be sold or refurbished. For example, imported tires must be imported through the PLB bonded logistics center.

10.    If the company has completed the import approval letter, and then there is a change in the origin, destination country, and/or destination port, the company must apply for a change, as long as the license is still valid.

11.    If the validity period of the import approval letter is about to expire, and the company has not imported all the quotas, the company can only apply for an extension of validity for an additional 30 days.

12.    If the company has imported all the quotas and/or the validity period of the import approval letter has expired, the company can reapply.

13.    PI B2, A type PI BMTB is valid for one year. Within one year, the company can import several times, but it cannot exceed the import quota written on the PI.

14.    PI import approval letter is valid for six months. Within six months, the company can import several times, but it cannot exceed the import quota written on the PI.

15.    After importing, in order to be able to import the next batch of products, the company must first submit an import realization report to the Ministry of Trade.
